NBAN draws its members from Sovereign First Nations in the northern part of the Murray–Darling Basin.
Membership of NBAN is open to:
Sovereign First Nations Representatives
Sovereign First Nation Representatives are appointed to NBAN by the individual Nations. Member Nations appoint two members of their Nation who along with other nominees make up the membership of NBAN.
NBAN comprises First Nation nominated representatives from these Nations:
Barkindji (Paakantyi), Githabul, Mandandanji, Barunggam, Gunggari, Mardigan, Bidjara, Jarowair, Murrawarri, Bigambul, Gwamu, (Kooma), Ngemba, Budjiti, Kunja, Ngiyampaa, Euahlayi, Kambuwal, Kwiambul, Wailwan, Gamilaroi, Maljangapa, and Wakka Wakka.
Non-First Nations Owner Organisation Representatives
There are four other organisations that have membership of NBAN and they are:
- NSW Aboriginal Land Council
- South West Natural Resource Management
- Queensland Murray–Darling Basin Commission
- Condamine Alliance
