Our Principals are:

  1. Recognise that the authority and responsibility with respect to Aboriginal culture rests with Ancestral

  2. Involve Aboriginal people effectively, through a process of free prior and informed consent, which means that Aboriginal people have adequate knowledge and understanding to ensure they are aware of the consequences and outcomes which may result from their contribution and any consent with regards to cultural knowledge, values and

  3. Work towards improving the capacity of Aboriginal people in relation to effective involvement in natural resource

  4. Recognise that natural resource management programs have a role in delivering cultural, social, economic and environmental outcomes that are equitable, sustainable and appropriate to all Aboriginal people; and

  5. Ensure that partnerships between Aboriginal people and the Murray-Darling Basin Authority and other stakeholders are based on respect, honesty and capacity to participate equally, with shared responsibility and clearly defined accountability and
